Venue (Grieghallen)
The VTS Symposium 2008 will take place at the concert and congress site Grieghallen (GH), which is located at Edvard Griegsplass 1.
Rigging
The official opening of the Industrial Exhibition will be Monday August 4 at 15:30. But exhibitors can already begin to rig or build booths in the Grieg Hall Sunday August 3 at 17:00-20:00.
Lunches & Coffee Breaks
The lunches and coffee breaks will take place on the first floor of Grieghallen in the exhibition area. The lunches and coffee breaks are included in the delegate fee.
Water
In Grieghallen you will find water in jugs. The tap-water in Bergen is filtered and safe to drink.
Computer rooms & Internet Facilities
During the symposium, Grieghallen's wireless internet will be available to all delegates and exhibitors. You are also welcome to use on-site computers located on the ground floor.
Postal services & Foreign Exchange
In most kiosks it is possible to purchase stamps.
Cashpoint/ATM (Norwegian: "minibank")
Outside Grieghallen there is a cashpoint/ATM on the right side of the main entrance.
Public Transport
If you want to use local transport, Tide is the name of the local bus company. However, all the hotels listed on the registration form are within walking distance of Grieghallen.
The Parking Bus (small blue bus) departs from the bus station and drives via the city centre and Bryggen to Nøstet. The bus station is located one block from Grieghallen.
There is a bus service to and from the airport every 30 minutes. The airport is located about 15 km from the city centre. Taxi services are located at the airport and in the downtown area, with locations marked by blue and white traffic signs. All taxis are payable by credit cards.
Parking
There is a parking garage in the Grieghallen lower levels.
Leisure activities
Shopping centres, restaurants, attractions and hotels are located near the inner city core and harbour. Both the Grieg Hall and the symposium hotels are within walking distance from the city centre.
Tourist Information
The Bergen Tourist information is located at the Vågsalmenning, opposite the fish market. For more information, see the Bergen Guide available in your conference bag.
Tickets to social programme
Tickets to the social events will be available at the hospitality desk at Grieghallen during the symposium. Delegates who have already registered for the social programme in the online registration will receive tickets to social events in the conference bag.
