During the session on "VTS and its role in Global Traffic Monitoring", Marine Director Peter Hincliffe from the International Chamber of Shipping will present the Shipowner's Perspective, while in the session on "Recruitment and Professional Competency", Mirellie Backo, the Secretary General of the Port Management Association of West and Central Africa will speak about capacity building in developing countries.
Due to a near geographical proximity to the High North, the symposium will include a session on the increasing importance of VTS in the Arctic areas. For this session IALA has invited Professor and Founder Ola Johannessen of the Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Center in Bergen, Norway, to present the present and future perspectives in terms of the challenges facing the Arctic climate.
A more detailed list of speakers and presentation themes will be published when the final technical programme is completed.
