Vessel Traffic Services

The VTS centres play a central role in the prevention of traffic accidents off the coast of Norway and will continue to do so in the years to come. A staff of highly skilled and professional VTS personnel plays an important role here, combining professional competence with advanced technological infrastructure and aids to ensure safe passage for vessels. 

In addition to being trained according to IALA's V-103 courses on VTS, VTS operators are also required to have a master mariners certificate or extensive operational experience as maritime officers prior to joining the NCA staff.
