
In cooperation with IALA the Norwegian Coastal Administration welcomes you to the International Symposium on Vessel Traffic Services in 2008. The 11th VTS Symposium will take place in the city of Bergen situated on the southwest coast of Norway.
The selected themes for the VTS Symposium in 2008 is well-suited with the current VTS development in Europe, as there is a lot of interest to achieve a common standard for VTS services. On behalf of Norway, the Norwegian Coastal Administration has come a long way towards standardising VTS operations in Norway with the rest of Europe.
The VTS Symposium 2008 will be a forum where IALA member countries can discuss challenges and opportunities in the field of Vessel Traffic Services. The themes in 2008 will be VTS from a global perspective, focusing on areas such as recent technological advancement, professional competencies, e-navigation, legal aspects, and VTS in the Arctic region.
In 2006 the NCA signed on the congress organiser Bergen Kongress & Kultur to assist with the practical arrangements leading up to the VTS Symposium 2008. In cooperation with IALA, the NCA will for the next two years develop an captivating program for all the participants attending from all over the world.
